Our theme for 2011, "Reach for the Stars" is a play on Kansas' state motto, Ad Astra per Aspera, which means "To the Stars through Difficulties."

Welcome to Kansas!

The Kansas agents are excited for the opportunity to host the NACAA Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference August 7-11, 2011, as it was last held in Kansas in 1983.  Overland Park will be the host site.  It offers a unique blend of metropolitan amenities with suburban hospitality and is located 15 minutes from downtown Kansas City.  Overland Park has 35 hotels and over 250 restaurants with lots of shopping opportunities and is a family friendly community as it was voted the #1 kid friendly city in America.  The Overland Park Convention Center has more than 1,000 hotel rooms within walking distance and offers free parking.

Kansas is the nation’s heartland.  We are the exact geographical center of the contiguous 48 states.  Therefore, we are within driving distance for many NACAA members.  If you choose to fly, we recommend you rent a car so you can drive around the area and take in all of the Kansas experience.  However, some type of shuttle service for a fee will be offered.

Kansas is one of the top agricultural producing states in the nation for wheat, beef cattle, corn, soybeans, and other products.  That fact is well known, but Kansas also ranks among the top mineral producing states and leads the nation in the production of helium.  Also, Kansas is a great spot for hunting and fishing and outdoor sports.  Wind energy is also playing a major role in the state’s economy.

From tours to workshops and special events, the members, spouses, kids and life members will not want to miss it.  Events are being planned for the whole family in mind.  No matter your interest, there should be something for everyone.  So come join us in 2011 and “Reach for the Stars” as we celebrate our 150th year as a state.  We hope for just a little while you let Kansas be your home on the range.
